Young Drivers, Car Insurance, and Life’s Highway

Posted at 4:01 pm under Uncategorized

Should you wait for your child to get a driver’s license after turning 25 years old? At first, this may seem like the best option. In terms of young drivers, car insurance drops significantly once they reach that age. But they’d miss some important lessons that they should learn on life’s highway. Here are some of the most important ones:

1. Personal responsibility. There’s that old saying that with freedom, comes responsibility. That’s the essence of driving an automobile. If you don’t keep the exterior and interior clean, it will get dirty. If you don’t perform regular maintenance on the tires, they won’t roll properly. And if you don’t fill up the tank with gas—you won’t get very far. In the case of young drivers, car insurance teaches them a crucial lesson life: initiative.

2. Punctuality. When you’re the driver of an automobile, being on time takes on a whole new meaning. You must consider factors such as travel time, rush hour, and the chance that you could get a flat tire during any trip—just to get to Point B on time.

3. Following directions. This is definitely another important lesson that everyone must learn sometime in life. Driving can help. Road signs tell a driver how fast to drive, the times when it’s okay to park certain places, and so on. Then there are verbal and written directions that one needs to follow to the letter, to reach a destination successfully.

4. Problem solving. One of the best ways teens can learn this, is through map-reading. When no directions are included, he or she must use critical thinking skills to determine the best way to get from Point A to Point B.

If your children are young drivers, car insurance is definitely worth buying for them. Life is indeed a highway, and getting behind the wheel can help them along the way.
