What is ebay sniping?
With any new business method, comes new ways of wining business. The internet has brought all sorts of ways of buying items, selling products or services, in ways we never once thought were possible.
Ebay, which is only an online version of a normal auction, allows many people to buy and sell quickly. Also it has created new markets for those who are serious about winning the auctions.
This is where an ebay sniping services come in.
According to wikipedia, auction sniping is defined as:
“The process of watching a timed online auction (such as on eBay), and placing a winning bid at the last possible moment (often seconds before the end of the auction), giving the other bidders no time to outbid the sniper.
Some bidders do this manually, and others use software designed for the purpose. A bid sniper is a person or software agent who performs auction sniping.
There are also online sniping services, where the software agent is run from a website rather than the sniper\’s own computer. This decreases the failure rate of the snipe, because the website is expected to have more reliable servers that might be quicker to react”
Unfortunately, in order to win the items you want, you are going to have to develop a sniper mentality. To protect against snipers, while remaining within eBay rules, you have a couple options.
Here are few options when it comes to getting the last bid in:
1. Keep a close eye on items you want to win.
2. Note the time and date the auction finishes and be sure to log back in more than 30 minutes or so
before that time. This maybe a problem if the finishing time is late at night or during work or schhol hours)
3. Place one or more bids at that time, keeping a close eye on the auction and showing that you are active.
4. The objective here is to make sure you aren\’t outbid, and to show your genuine interest in the product.
5. Since you\’ll have been logged in for more than 30 minutes, any last second bid you might have to make won\’t be considered sniping.
As far as eBay is concerned, it is only a snipe if you login during the last couple minutes in order to place a bid in the very last second.
Sniping can be annoying when someone does it you, but if you use it to win that item you desperately want it can be a wonderful thing. Just remember that it is not very ethical to win via sniping since the other party doesn\’t have a chance against software or service versions
This is just one of the ways that business s changing influenced by the Internet world wide reach.
